The Fayette and Rocheport Rotary Clubs are joining with clubs worldwide to help raise funds to fight polio. The clubs will host a cornhole tournament on Sunday, October 13, in Rocheport.

The two-person, double-elimination tournament begins at 1 p.m. at Meriwether’s Café and Grill in Rocheport at the Katy Trailhead. The cost per team is $25. The tournament is open to the public. A $50 prize will be awarded to the winning team. A “bragging rights” trophy will also be given to the winning Rotary team. Refreshments will be available for purchase at Meriwether’s.

Teams may register between noon and 1 p.m. at Meriwether’s on the day of the event. All proceeds will go to the Rotary International End Polio Now campaign.

October 24 marks World Polio Day, the birthday of Jonas Salk, the American researcher who developed the first polio vaccine in 1955. During the month of October, Rotary Clubs worldwide are planning fundraisers to help support Rotary International and its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).
