Members of AWE (Association of Women for Education) and the Fayette Optimist Club distributed more than 325 books to students at Daly Elementary School on Tuesday, May 12 as a part of the annual “Books for Daly Kids” project. The project was initiated by AWE in 1977. Later, in 2010, the Optimists joined in supporting the effort to encourage young students to become lifelong readers.
Presenting books (from left) are kindergarten teacher Libby Rice, AWE President Sheri Eaton, Optimist Club member Mike Jackman, and AWE Secretary Karen Powell.
