Three Days of Events Scheduled

Posted

The campus of Central Methodist University will once again be abuzz with excitement and school spirit this October, as a weekend full of Homecoming events is just around the corner. Festivities will kick off on Friday, October 4 on the Fayette campus and continue through Sunday.

The office of advancement and alumni relations has planned a number of events to provide opportunities for returning alumni to reconnect and build new memories.

On Friday evening, a celebration of the Hall of Sponsors will be held on the fourth floor of the Inman Student and Community Center, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cocktail banquet will kick off the weekend by recognizing the most prestigious endowed scholarship awards at Central. All alumni are invited to enjoy appetizers, drinks, and live music by a student-led jazz combo. Tickets must be purchased ahead of the event at the link below.

The CMU volleyball game against Benedictine will begin at 7 p.m. in Puckett Fieldhouse, followed by the pep rally to prepare for a full day full events on Saturday.

Bishop Robert Farr and Susan Farr ’04 will serve as the grand marshals for the Homecoming Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday morning on the Fayette square. Tailgating for the football game against Missouri Baptist will begin at 11 a.m. in the Davis Field parking lot, where a pair of food trucks will be on hand to serve visitors. The CMU alumni board will also have a special area at the tailgate event, where alumni and friends can stop by to have a commemorative picture taken at the photo booth.

The CMU football game kicks off at 1 p.m. against Missouri Baptist.

Women’s and men’s soccer will take on Mount Mercy at 5 and 7:30 p.m., respectively, at Davis Field, while the Downtown Fayette Fall Street Dance will take place from 6 to 10 p.m.

Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday will be the annual Alumni Awards Brunch, where this year’s Young Alumni Award and Distinguished Alumni Award winners will be honored. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP prior to the event.

Throughout the weekend, several Greek organizations and classes are also planning reunions.
