Oeth named Executive Director of Downtown Fayette

Posted

Downtown Fayette announced Barbie Oeth as its new Executive Director. She will officially begin her duties on November 1.

The organization, formerly known as Fayette Main Street, has been without an Executive Director since Cana Conrow stepped down from the position in May after a year on the job.

Barbie and her husband, Kevin, are well known in Fayette, even though they have lived here for only eight years. Kevin even served a term as Mayor and worked as the Sports Editor for this newspaper. The couple has raised three sons and proudly boast eight grandchildren. Their son, Andy, is a teacher in the Fayette school district and coaches middle school softball and high school baseball.

Barbie and her family have become deeply ingrained in the fabric of the Fayette community, actively participating in local events and initiatives, making them a familiar presence around town.

“Barbie brings a wealth of expertise in administration, event planning, and historic preservation,” said Downtown Fayette in a press release.

For the past eight years, Mrs. Oeth has served as the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Court Administrator at the Boone County Circuit Court, where she has worked closely with judges, attorneys, and court officials. Her expertise extends to event management, planning, and interior and environmental design, complementing her deep passion for historic buildings. Additionally, her background as a small business owner gives her unique insight into the challenges and rewards of community development.

Barbie said she fell in love with Fayette the day her family moved here and shares her passion and mission for Downtown Fayette. She even loves the motto, “Where Friends Gather.”

“I absolutely love this little town,” she said. “I want to apply what I know and keep learning to better connect with the community and beyond, bringing people in. I hope the kids who grow up here feel inspired to stay or come back, raise their families, and enjoy being part of a safe, thriving community.”

Barbie has also served on the Historic Preservation Commission and the Downtown Fayette Promotions Committee.

“Her passion for historic buildings and environmental design will be a tremendous asset to our community,” said Downtown Fayette.

Barbie’s first day on the job will also be on her birthday. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate,” she said.

Downtown Fayette promotes economic growth, education, connection, and revitalization efforts for downtown. As an affiliate of the Missouri Main Street Connect and Main Street America, the organization benefits from state and national support, guidance, and access to educational resources, strategies, and grants for this community. A board of directors leads the mission through four key committees: Economic Vitality, Design, Organization, and Promotions. Apart from the Executive Director, the organization is entirely volunteer-driven and receives financial backing from local businesses, organizations, and government agencies.
