CMU observatory open for public viewing, tours Aug. 8

Central Methodist University's historic Morrison Observatory will be open to the public on August 8 at 9 pm. Morrison Observatory is located in Fayette, Missouri on 504 Park Road, next to Fayette City Park. 

Morrison Observatory was first commissioned in Glasgow, Missouri in 1875 and moved to Fayette in 1935. Since then, the telescope and observatory have been inspiring generation after generation of students and the public to the wonders of the night sky. 

The telescope will be available for public viewing if it is clear. If it is cloudy tours will continue. 

Paul Temple the new Director of Morrison Observatory and professor of astronomy at Central Methodist University will be your host.
