Dennis Wayne “Frog” Boss, 77, of Fayette, passed away June 25, 2024, at Pioneer Nursing Center in Marceline, Mo.
He was born in Chamois, Mo., on November 17, 1946, a son of William and Bernadine Sieg Boss. Frog, as he was known to many, married Sondra “Sondie” Monroe on August 8, 1970, in Linn, Mo. Sondie survives at their home.
Frog enlisted in the U.S. Navy with his best friend, Kenny Helming, the summer of his senior year in high school and was honorably discharged in May of 1968 with the rank of CT3, and later was a member of the American Legion. He served as a trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Missouri Gaming Commission for 31 years. During this time, he assisted in providing security detail for the Governor and the Missouri State Fair.
He was known for having a good time and was usually the life of the party and enjoyed a cold Milwaukee’s Best Light. Frog liked a good argument, good-hearted teasing, and his well-known knee-slapping laughter. Classic car restoration was a passion for him, as well as listening to classic country music, following NASCAR, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and he excelled in playing the “Tub.” A favorite place to spend time with family on the Osage River was Bonnots Mill. He also enjoyed accompanying his canine Golden Retriever companions, Sarge and Sam, to Stump Island.
He is survived by his wife, Sondie; his children, Jay Boss, Paula Boss-Wood (Scott), and Tammy Lloyd (Josh); brothers, Buck Boss and Wade Boss; sisters, Diana Letterman and Becky Arthur; and his grandchildren, Zack Wood, Jacob Wood, Bethanee Plochberger, Solomon Lloyd, Ireland Lloyd, Jackson Boss, and Jaylynn Boss.
Funeral services honoring his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette. Burial with military honors will follow at Gold Dust Cemetery in Fayette. The visitation will be Friday evening at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Fayette PAWS Program.
Condolences may be shared at www.carryager.com.
Carr-Yager Funeral Home is honored to serve the Boss Family.
