Firefighters pulled a 21-year-old woman from an overturned car in a creek early Saturday on County Road 401, commonly known as Fairgrounds Road.
Fire Station 1 in Fayette received the page around 6 a.m. A neighbor had heard a noise, and after his dog kept barking, he went outside to investigate. There he found the car upside down in the creek.
Firemen in wet suits reached the car and could hear someone inside asking for help. When they opened a door, they found Alexis Barney with water up to her chin, breathing inside a small pocket of air.
Once extracted, an ambulance took Barney to the hospital. She had no apparent serious injuries, according to one first responder.
