Harold K. Smith, 92, of New Franklin, passed away June 22, 2024, at Glasgow Gardens.
Harold was born August 6, 1931, in Valley Springs, Mo., a son of Lonnie and Eunice Poe Smith. He married Sue Sapp on October 18, 1952, in Ashland, Mo. Sue preceded him in death on October 28, 2021.
Prior to retirement Harold was employed as a truck driver with Midland Truck Line. Harold was a member of the New Franklin First Baptist Church and was a former deacon at North Shore Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, MO. He was a life member of the Eagles Lodge, and his favorite activities included bird and deer hunting, being involved in the family’s sprint car racing, spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his children, Randy Smith and wife, Nancy and Rhonda Sue Brown and husband, David; brothers, Russell and Jerry Smith; grandchildren, Todd Smith, Lea Ann Bedell, and Courtney Renner; great-grandchildren, Austin Hatfield, Kylar Smith, Kade Smith, Kenzi Smith, Avery Bedell, Casey Bedell, Benton Renner, Brilye Renner, and Bekah Renner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sue; a son, Rusty Smith; brothers, Everett and Emmett Smith; and sisters, Mabel Young, Ruby Perkins, and Vera Shaw.
Services honoring Harold’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. on Friday until the time of service.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
Memorial contributions suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
