Loretta Sulltrop

Loretta Belle Sulltrop, 89, of Fayette, Mo., passed away on July 20, 2024, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Loretta was born in Keytesville, Mo., on July 19, 1935, a daughter of Mitchell and Jennie Frances Adkins Calvert. She married James Henry Sulltrop at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette on November 26, 1955. He preceded her in death after 63 years of marriage on December 12, 2018.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette. Prior to retirement, she was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and then at the medical practices of Dr. William Shaw, Sr. and Dr. William Shaw, Jr. and retired after many years from Keller Memorial Hospital as Chief Financial Officer. Loretta enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening, and her family.

Survivors include her daughter and loving caregiver, Mary Susan “Susie” Summerour, and husband, Matt; and her sons, James Michael “Mike” Sulltrop, William Henry “Bill” Sulltrop, and Joseph Mitchell “Joe” Sulltrop; grandchildren, Hannah Teeman, Hallie and Jacob Summerour; and great-grandchildren, Kyra and Lydia Littlejohn, Jax Teeman, Braylee Whitworth, and Avery Summerour.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Perry, and brothers, Harold, Joe, Floyd, Dale, Gerald, George, Herbert, and Carl Calvert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette, with Fr. Mark Smith officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette.

Burial will follow the service at Asbury Cemetery near Keytesville, Mo.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette.
