Peacemakers seek quilt show entries

Posted

The Fayette Peacemakers are seeking entries for their annual quilt show that takes place in conjunction with the Fayette Festival of the Arts. This year’s show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church.

The theme for this year’s show is “Sunbonnets, Sunflowers and Summer Sun.” The Peacemakers expect to see many Sunbonnet Sues and perhaps even some Overall Andys. Sue and Andy, as well as other summer-themed quilts, will be spotlighted on the stage. But, as always, there will be a variety of quilts that don’t necessarily match the theme. They will be displayed throughout the church sanctuary.
The Peacemakers urge everyone to enter quilts in the show. Anyone is eligible to display quilts, even if they have been displayed in previous shows. Exhibitors do not need to be quilters to enter. Many quilts in past shows are family heirlooms. Others were received as gifts or purchased at estate sales. There is no limit to the number of quilts an individual may display, nor is there an entry fee.

For information about how to enter the show, go to the Quilt Show page on the Fayette Festival of the Arts website, www.fayettefestival.org/quilt. Entry forms are due no later than Thursday, July 25.
