Central’s Got Talent, Center Stage return for single-day events

Posted

Registration is open for two of Central Methodist University’s most exciting scholarship competitions, Central’s Got Talent and Center Stage. Both take place on Feb. 22.

Both competitions offer scholarships of up to full tuition to high school students interested in the performing arts.

“These scholarship competitions are always filled with great performances and camaraderie,” said Dr. Dori Waggoner ’92, chair of the fine arts division. “We are thrilled to be able to offer such generous scholarships to so many students.”

Central’s Got Talent (CGT) is the annual event in which high school seniors have a chance to shine in vocal, instrumental, and praise band areas. Judged by CMU faculty, six finalists receive offers in the range of a half-tuition to a full-tuition scholarship, with two taking home the grand prize. All remaining participants receive scholarship offers at other levels.

Last year, Fayette High School graduate Wesley Miner won a full-tuition scholarship.

In the Center Stage portion of the day, students can compete using their talents in acting or theatre design. A full-tuition scholarship will be up for grabs to the top performer of the day, while all other participants will receive scholarship offers at varying levels.

Both competitions will take place on Thursday, Feb. 22, on the Fayette campus, where there will be opportunities for participants to meet and visit with CMU faculty and current students.

The events are open to parents and families, providing an opportunity for all to see the campus and learn about financial aid, student services, and a variety of other helpful information.

The registration deadline for both competitions is Friday, Feb. 2. To register, visit https://go.centralmethodist.edu/eventregistration/inquiryform. For more information, contact your admission representative.
