The Fayette High School softball field will have an upgraded scoreboard next season, thanks to Commercial Trust Co. The renowned local bank, headquartered in Fayette with a second branch in Harrisburg, presented a donation in the amount of $19,000 Thursday afternoon prior to the Falcons’ home baseball game.
“It’s amazing. And it’s not the first time Commercial Trust has come through for our school,” said Fayette softball coach and athletic director Mike James. “They’ve treated our school so well over the years. We’re always grateful and humble that they support the school the way they do. And they do it for the kids. We’re really fortunate to have a hometown company that is run by so many Fayette alums.”
In December, Commercial Trust donated $32,000 to the Fayette school district for the purchase of a new football scoreboard.
“We want our facilities to reflect the pride we take in the achievements of our students both on and off the field,” said Commercial Trust President Janet Jacobs. “Our school is the heart of our community and we appreciate all the students, parents, coaches, teachers, staff, and administrators who come together to make up our entire Falcon family.”
The old scoreboard still functions and is expected to be put into use at the softball field at the Fayette City Park.
