Howard County Dems plan primary, GOP to caucus in leu of state Presidential Preference Primary

Posted

In the absence of a Missouri Presidential Preference Primary this election year, local political groups will hold alternative means for county voters to cast primary ballots ahead of the Nov. 5 general election.

Howard County Republicans will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. in the courthouse on Tuesday, Feb. 20, to finalize details of a caucus that will be held starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2.

The Howard County Democratic Party will hold a Presidential Preference Primary election on Saturday, March 23, in accordance with the state party. During this hybrid election, voters may cast ballots in person from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 23, at the Howard County Courthouse or by mail prior to 10 a.m. the day of the primary.

Anyone may vote in the primary so long as they are not registered Republicans and are registered to vote by Feb. 21.

A press release from the Howard County Democratic Party appears on Page 2 of the print edition.
