Greetings from your Howard County Library! Even though the temperatures may not reflect the season, autumn has arrived and it is an exciting time here at the library! We are making some big changes in the downstairs area of the building. Renovations are underway now to provide a new children’s activity center. Previously, this space was the large area where the books for sale were once displayed.
The activity center will be utilized for a variety of purposes. The Toddlers’ Story time and the Story Time for the older children will both be held there. Because of the greater space, we will be able to schedule more crafts, games, and lots of fun activities! The Summer Reading Programs will also be held there along with special events and holiday celebrations! For all our patrons who like to shop our book sale, we will still have used and donated books for sale in the room previously used as the Teen Room. The book room will be closed for a few weeks as we undergo these renovations, but watch the newspaper and check our website and Facebook for news regarding these changes! We are all very excited here about what we will be able to offer our patrons in the future!
As always, we have our Toddlers’ Story Time on Thursdays at 10 a.m., Story Time for the school-age children on Fridays at 11a.m., and the first Friday of every month is Block Day!
We have not forgotten about all of our adult patrons as our adult only group, “Readers,” meets on the first Thursday of every month from 6 until 7 p.m.
Of course, along with all our programs and activities, we have all the new books and best-sellers for you to check out. We hope you will come in for a visit, find a great book, and also discover all the exciting plans we have in the works! Happy Fall!
