What is now considered an unsubstantiated threat involving the Fayette school district was investigated by the Fayette Police Department and the Howard County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

The district sent out two text alerts at 7:24 a.m. on Thursday morning. “Law Enforcement had a report of a threat. They investigated and concluded that we are not in danger.” “Law Enforcement will be present this morning at school to help ensure safety for all students.”

Superintendent Brent Doolin confirmed that law enforcement had received a report of a threat and investigated the report. “They determined that it was not a credible threat,” he said. “Ultimately, the threat was not credible or substantiated. We want to thank Fayette PD and Howard County Sheriff’s Department for collaborating with us to address the issue and keep students safe.”

Doolin said the school was never locked down because the threat was already determined to not be credible before any students arrived on campus Thursday morning. 

Administrators assisted in the investigation and ultimately helped determine that the threat was not substantiated, Doolin said.
